The Center of our Lives

The Center of our Lives

Last week I shared with you my fondness for The Apostle Paul’s words to the Colossian church found in the letter he sent to them about 60 AD. I have been preparing my sermons for the coming weeks on Colossians 3:1-17 and discovered these words of bible translator Eugene Peterson to be quite helpful in summing up the purpose of this inspiring letter. Peterson wrote, “Paul is writing to the Colossians in an attempt to restore Jesus, the Messiah, to the center of their lives”. I don’t know about you but I need this passage as a reminder of what my priority in life is and that my relationship with God in Christ is central to everything I do.

Why don’t you study with me, and perhaps the passage will be an inspiration to you as well. Here’s where I will be rambling for the next four Sundays. Hopefully these messages will help you and motivate me to put Jesus in his rightful place ….in the center of our lives. I also hope you will use your study and worship time over the next couple of weeks to prepare for Easter. Ask God to use our sermons, songs, scriptures, and PSBC activities to assist in putting Jesus in his rightful place as Thee Priority.

My sermons for the first four weeks of March will be:
March 1st …Colossians 3: 1-4….The Basis For Holy Living
March 8th ….Colossians 3:5-11…Nip It In The Bud
March 15th …Colossians 3: 12 -14 …. Living With Other Christians
Marc 22nd ….Colossians 3: 15 -17….A Heart Full Of God Is A Heart Full of Gratitude

Also as a means of enriching your relationship with God in Christ we will have Dr. Jim McConnell with us for a study of 1st Peter on these Wednesday nights in the Small Dining Room at 6:30 PM…March 11, 18, and 25. Jim is a great teacher and professor of New Testament at Gardner Webb. He is a good friend and a gifted approachable servant of God.

Please be in prayer also for these coming events:
March 29th ….Youth Sunday
April 5th …..Palm Sunday
April 8th …Wednesday Holy Week Service
April 12th ….Easter

I am praying for you Poplar Springs and please pray for me.
