“Suit Up” for a Great Summer!

“Suit Up” for a Great Summer!

This week our Poplar Springs Youth are down at Camp Caswell, the North Carolina Baptist Assembly on Oak Island. Their focus for the week is the right focus for all of us as we look at the summer that is upon us and our opportunities to represent our Lord wherever we go and in whatever we do.  The Camp Caswell theme this year is based on Ephesians 6:10-18 and is the challenge to “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power” as we put on the full armor of God.  Our PSBC youth will hear this theme from Nicole and Katherine with the logo they created – “Suit Up!” (Pictured here). Yep, we wear a lot of different kinds of suits across the summer from sports uniforms to work uniforms to swimsuits to work out clothes to work-out-in-the-yard clothes, but the suit that we are to wear on every occasion is the armor of God:

Shield of Faith – “faith” that keeps us look to Jesus’ strength when we are pressed!

Breastplate of Righteousness – “right” thinking and doing lead by the Holy Spirit!

Belt of Truth – “truth” that is anchored in Jesus, the way, the TRUTH, and the life!

Sword of the Spirit – which is the “word” of God coming to life in us every day!

Helmet of Salvation – “salvation” from sin and it’s pull and for God’s way in the world!

Shoes of the Gospel – ready to bring the “peace” of Jesus’ presence as we go!

Yes, dear friends, let’s “suit up” for a great summer of representing Jesus within our families, our relationships, our work, our community…yes, wherever the summer takes us!

And thank you for your prayers for our PSBC youth group as they immerse themselves in this theme this week and watch to see the Lord work in their lives!

In the Love of Jesus,
