Prayers for Our Pastor Search

Prayers for Our Pastor Search

This week, after much prayer and preparation (and input from our congregation), our Pastor Search Committee will post the position (see below) for Pastor of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Thank you for your continued prayers for this process of discernment and for your intentional prayers for the Search Committee: Ava Bryson, Clyde Buckner, John Harmon, Tara Hayes, Clay Putnam, and Leslie Queen. As the post goes public this week, we pray for the Lord’s guidance as we did this past Sunday.

Prayer at the Posting of the Pastor Position – February 5, 2023

Father, we praise you already for the ways you go before us as a congregation in our search for the next Pastor of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. As we come to post the position to engage in conversations, we know that our next Pastor will read the post and begin praying with his family in search of your will for their ministry. We thank you for your care and encouragement for them for you know their needs and all that they will have to face in this process of discernment. Give this new pastor a willingness to consider our field of service and all it will take to come and join us in what you are doing in Cleveland County.

Please give our next pastor a PASSION…

For loving our people

For engaging our community

For preaching your word

For encouraging his family

For renewing her spirit

And for walking with Jesus!

Thank you for the discernment you are being already for our Pastor Search Committee. Help them to be patient as they receive resumes, give them unity of heart and spirit as they meet, and bring them by your wisdom to the pastor you are preparing for us.

Thank for the perseverance you will encourage within our church family as we live to stay true to your calling to be the church — your called out ones who are lifting Jesus in our community. Help us to embrace well this calling to ministry which is bigger than any single pastor and which compels us to share your love with every single person we encounter. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be opened unto you. Hallelujah.

Prayerfully,

Tony Tench
