Freedom

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is
There is freedom
I am free Amen…”

Free Amen – We The Kingdom

Many of us owned goldfish when we were kids. They are fun to own, cheap to maintain, and an easy way for parents to satisfy their kid’s desire to have a pet. The common goldfish was domesticated from wild carp in China more than a thousand years ago. They are hardy and adaptable. In a fishbowl or tank in your home, goldfish grow to be 4–6 inches and live on average 5–10 years.

However, did you know that in a large pond or in the wild, goldfish can grow up to 12–18 inches and on average live 15–20+ years? They keep growing as long as conditions allow. Goldfish that are living free and in the wild have room to swim and exercise. Natural water bodies stay cleaner than the average fishbowl as well. In the wild, they eat plants, insects, and/or small shellfish which give them a varied, nutrient-rich diet that supports maximum growth. In your house, they eat fish flakes…

Pet goldfish still have the capacity to grow large. The myth that a goldfish “only grows to the size of its bowl” isn’t completely true; but the bowl does restrict its health and stunts its potential. This makes for ideal pets, but not necessarily thriving goldfish.

A common goldfish has the potential to grow—but only if it is truly free…

If we are truly free, we too can grow and thrive, becoming what we are called to be. When we call on the name of Jesus, He sets us free from our sin and death. He gives us eternal life in heaven and sets us free to experience that life here on earth through a transformational new life. There is power, healing, and life in the name of Jesus.

As our country celebrates its own Independence Day, we thank God for our spiritual Independence Day—the day Jesus went to the cross for our sins and defeated them through His death and resurrection. We thank Him for the freedom we have now because of His sacrifice. I pray that we all experience the mercy, grace, love, and freedom that He wants you to live in.

John 8:36
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

Prayer: God, thank you for the true freedom we have through a relationship with your Jesus. In His holy name we pray, Amen.
