Finding Joy

Finding Joy

There are classic scenes in movies that always make us smile, laugh, tap our foot to the music, or make us sing along. One of those classic scenes is found in Singin’ in the Rain. The 1952 American musical romantic comedy film features Don Lockwood, played by Gene Kelly, singing and dancing in the street to the film’s title song that is so familiar…again, whether we admit it or not. It’s hard not to smile, tap your foot, or whistle along. Movies, music, and books have a way of stirring our emotions.

I have a sneaky suspension that we could all use a little more joy and happiness in our daily walk. Sometimes it feels like joy is hard to find in this old world. Things in our culture and media tend to dwell on the negative. It’s easy to get sucked into the trap and focus our attention on things that weigh us down.

Over the next four Sundays, we are going to look at joy and how we can choose to find it. Lets focus on this Psalm as we move into September.

Psalm 100

A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.

2 Worship the Lord with gladness;

come before Him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the Lord is God.

It is He who made us, and we are His;

we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.

4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving

and His courts with praise;

give thanks to Him and praise His name.

5 For the Lord is good and His love endures forever;

His faithfulness continues through all generations.

We hope you have a great rest of the week and can’t wait to see you soon!

Grace and peace,

Aaron
