Every morning, I receive two emails with a “Verse of the Day.” I did this several years ago to provide me with scriptures to think about each morning. Just to be honest with you, some days I do a better job of reflecting on those emails than others. It is amazing how often the scriptures I receive are exactly what I need to hear, encourage me in a very specific way, or affirm how God is moving in my life.
The verse from Proverbs 19:21 above is a great example of that affirmation. Early in 2023, I received that verse in an email one morning. The words jumped all over me. I make many plans, but it is God’s purpose that prevails. As I began to work through my calling to be the pastor at Poplar Springs, this verse was one that I found myself returning to throughout 2023 for a reminder that God was at work in my life and His purpose for me would prevail.
As we begin 2024, I want to encourage you to find a verse, find three verses, find a word, find a phrase…find something that reminds you of the promises of God. Let it encourage you and guide you throughout the year.
Remember as we go throughout this year that you are a new creation.
