Working Together!
As Paul writes to encourage the church at Corinth, not only does he describe the church as a body with members dependent on, and blessed by, one another, but he also refers to our life in the church with the designation, “workers together.” It is one word in the text, a noun, a compound word combing “work” and “with” – that’s who we are in the church of Jesus Christ. We “work with” one another to share Jesus’s love and to raise up the claims of the kingdom of God in our community. Thank you, Poplar Springs Baptist Church, for the ways you regularly work together in ministry!
Last week was a great example of “working together” as the PSBC Brotherhood sponsored the 9th Annual Flay Carpenter Memorial Golf Tournament at River Bend. We were thankful for all the Brotherhood members who gave of their time and resources to make the tournament a reality as Clay Putnam led the way to organize the competition. We were also thankful for the 44 golfers who made up the teams which hit the links on Friday afternoon. This tournament raised money for Brotherhood ministry and mission projects for the coming year and so many sponsors from our community worked together with us for a great day of fellowship and resource gathering!
We are thankful for each of these sponsors who gave in some way to gather in financial support for Brotherhood ministries:

Working Together for Mission Dignity
Sunday, June 25, is this year’s Mission Dignity Sunday. Mission Dignity is a ministry of GuideStone – the retirement/financial resources arm of the Southern Baptist Convention. This is an emphasis that “serves retirement-aged ministers, workers, and widows as they face advancing age, illness, infirmity, death of a spouse and even natural disasters. Through it all, they provide constant care, prayer, and financial assistance directly at the point of need.” Sixty percent of those served are widows; one in four is over age 85. This ministry receives no cooperative program support and is funded from direct gifts from individuals and churches. Envelopes are available for PSBC members to use beginning this coming Sunday in which you can mail contributions directly to GuideStone.
Vacation Bible School – Working Together Next Week!
Thanks to everyone who will work in VBS next week, Monday-Wednesday, June 26-28, 6:00-8:30 PM. We are looking forward to teaching children from God’s Word about God’s provisions for us “Into the Wilderness!”
In the Love of Jesus,
Tony Tench
