This past Sunday was a blessing for our congregation as women of Poplar Springs Baptist Church led the worship service. I was thankful for all the messages of the day!
As the women of the adult choir sang, I noted in my heart the “meanwhile” note that we are able to sing as we journey in search of our next pastor: “In His light, I’ll not stumble or fall…For in Him all my hopes are secure.” Sure enough, for our interim time, whether we’re praying for a new pastor or navigating challenging times at work or at home, we can know the assurance and confidence that comes as we walk with the “Father of Light.”
Meredith Hunt brought such an encouraging word to challenge us in the ways we approach our days. She described well the impact of a very simple, yet powerful, spiritual discipline when she said: “Kindness goes a long way…to healing.” Thanks, Meredith, for bringing that truth to our hearts to encourage us all in our interactions with others. When we share the love of Jesus, our friends can encounter the gift of grace to lift them up when they are low.
Katherine Asis said it well, in response to Meredith’s testimony, “God will use your story!” Even as Meredith was courageous enough to share her story with us, may the Lord help each of us to share our story of faith in Jesus as a way to “nudge” others toward Him and help them find healing as well. Thank you, Ladies!
This coming Sunday, we will conclude the sermon series, “Meanwhile: God’s Call in the Interim,” as the Advent season will begin just after Thanksgiving. Yes, we’re searching for a new pastor, meanwhile, we are living to be the church God intends for us to be in His kingdom work where the poplars grow tall and the springs flow fresh by the Spirit of God.
In the Love of Jesus,
Tony Tench
