Renew Your Mind

Renew Your Mind

This past week was hard by most any measure. For most in our church and in our community, there was a great deal of shock, sadness, and questions without answers. And then Sunday came…what a perfect time for our Summer Recap Sunday.

If you were not able to attend church or watch online, let me encourage you to go back on our website or Facebook site and watch the service from Sunday. I needed to be in church on Sunday. I needed to be reminded of all the good that God had done in the life of our church this summer. It was so filling to hear the children, youth, and chaperones talk about their experiences during the summer and how God was truly at work in their lives.

This past spring, we studied Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus. In Ephesians 4, Paul tells the church “to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” When life is hard, anxiety-filled, or sad, that’s always easier said than done. It is in those moments we need to be reminded, as we were on Sunday, that God is good and He is always at work.

Lamentations 3:23

“His mercies are new every morning;

    great is your faithfulness.”

Romans 12:2

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

God’s mercies are new each and every day. We can hold onto His new mercies as we allow our minds and spirits to be renewed by the power of His Holy Spirit. We can be transformed by Jesus on a daily basis. We do not get through hard weeks alone. We lean on each other and on the faith we have in a good and holy Heavenly Father. I thank God for a great Sunday at PSBC. Your pastor needed it.

Prayer: God, help us this week to renew our minds and renew our spirits. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Grace and peace,

Aaron
