More Than Words

More Than Words

Our Fall Festival is this week and will be a blast. The costumes, food, bingo, and fellowship around the table will make for a night to remember. The icing on the cake will of course be the lip-sync battle. Every year, we get to experience hits from across many genres of music. Each song is masterfully performed by members of our church. It is always fun, full of surprises, and lots of laughs.

A lip-sync battle is about more than words; it’s about the entire performance. As I thought about the Fall Festival and that battle tomorrow night, I was reminded of the scriptures found in the book of James. Chapter 2 makes it abundantly clear–our faith has to be about more than just words. It cannot be mere lip service or posts on social media. Our faith must be lived out in our daily lives. It should echo through our actions as well as our words. It must be visible in the way we live our lives and the fruit we produce. Our lives ought to be certain proof of our faith.

This Sunday, we will wrap up our series on being authentic–being authentically you. We will continue looking at what it means to be just who God made us to be.

Hope to see you (in costume) Wednesday night!

Grace and peace,
