This Sunday we talked about the Lord’s Prayer, the model prayer that Jesus teaches in the Sermon on the Mount. I have a sneaky suspicion. If we as a church prayed this prayer…and meant it…it might just change us. It might just change our hearts. Do you believe for it?
“‘Our Father who art in heaven…”
You are a good, good Father. You are in heaven, and we are not. You are over us. You are in control.
“Hallowed be your name…”
You are holy and on a different level than us. Help us be still, and know that You are God.
“Your kingdom come…”
I want you in my life, God. I want your upside-down Kingdom to occupy every corner of my life.
“Your will be done…”
Your will. Not mine. Show me your heart, God.
“On earth as it is in heaven…”
You are moving in heaven, so move right here in my life too.
“Give us today our daily bread…”
Please give me what I need for today and I trust that you’ll be here tomorrow too.
“And forgive us our trespasses…”
We are sorry for our trespasses–our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Forgive us Lord, we are sinners.
“As we forgive those who have trespassed against us…”
Help us forgive those who have wronged us. Even when it is hard and it hurts.
“And lead us not into temptation…”
We trust you not to tempt us so help us to hear Your holy voice when temptation comes calling.
“But deliver us from evil…”
We know there is an evil one and his schemes are to pull us away from you.
Give us the strength through your Holy Spirit to stay in Your arms.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Build your kingdom in this place with Your power and for Your glory through our group project. Amen.
Grace and peace,
Aaron
