During this time of the year, with the leaves changing colors, there is a great reminder of the hope that is ours in the Resurrection power of Jesus. God has designed the changing of the seasons as a great picture for us. While we enjoy the pretty reds, oranges, and yellows as the leaves change, we also realize that this beautiful display is happening as the leaves are dying. The season’s beauty is a reminder that the approach of death brings with it the hope of life– life eternal. The leaves dying prepares for the winter and anticipates the spring and the new life that blooms and thrives. God has made this covenant of life with the trees and, through Jesus, he has made it with us as well. By hope in Jesus, we will stand on the other side of death beside the tree of life and enjoy its fruit as its leaves bring healing for the nations and the beauty of God’s provision into focus. (Revelation 22:2).
