Yesterday, we kicked off our summer season here at PSBC with an amazing time of worship. We baptized four young ladies and had a beautiful Sunday together. The summer season is incredibly important in the life of our church. We take our camps and trips seriously, because we believe it is a great time to help our children and youth experience God. We have witnessed how this season, in particular, leads them to take their next step toward Jesus and helps them come to a saving faith as they hear the Gospel message.
On Monday morning, 116 kids showed up at our Family Life Center ready for Camp HoriSon. Some were nervous, some were excited, and some were even wearing shirts from previous years of Camp. Our FLC was full of life in a way that only happens during Camp HoriSon each summer. For 2025, our theme is Leave Your Mark, and it is based off 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIRV) which reads:
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young.
Set an example for the believers in what you say and in how you live. Also set an example in how you love and in what you believe. Show the believers how to be pure.”

This entire week will be about how to leave your mark, how to be an example to others. Interesting enough, the scripture says set an example to the believers…that’s those of us inside the church. That’s right—we need good examples in the church to follow as well.
Yesterday, we heard “I’ve Witnessed It,” by Melodie Malone. (Click here to listen) It is a powerful reminder that we have witnessed that God is good, strong, constant, loving, healing—He is a God who saves. He breathes new life into us, and it should lead us to a humble place of worship.
As we think about our own witness in this world, I hope it is a reminder that we are called to live lives that are an example to others of what Jesus looks like. Through our speech, actions, love, faith, and purity, we show those in our community of faith, and those looking for something more than just what the world offers, those attributes of God.
We get to be the witnesses of God in the world. He not only saved us, but He also chose us. He chose us to be His witnesses in this world. No matter what your corner of Cleveland County and beyond looks like, we bear witness to a holy God that loves each and every person on this earth. Let’s be the example. Let’s be His witnesses.
Prayer: God, thank you for all the ministry opportunities our church will have this summer. We pray that we will use every opportunity we are given to be a witness for you. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
