This past Sunday we were blessed to watch and listen to 35 children of our church (35!!!!!) perform their musical: Danny and the Shacks. Katherine and her team did an amazing job teaching the children the stories of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. In turn, the children did an incredible job of teaching the church through their speaking parts and songs.
Did you listen on Sunday? Did you hear the message of the musical? It’s easy to get lost in “how cute the kids are” or the “can you believe how tall they are now?” Let’s be honest: they could fumble through the entire musical, and we would all still think it was the best musical ever. (And to be clear, our kids fumbled absolutely nothing. They did an incredible job.)
But the question remains, did you listen on Sunday? I mean did you really hear the message of the musical:
- Who will you bow down to?
- Faith believes the impossible, sees what only God can do, and waits for the beautiful future God has in store.
- Will you stand for the one true King?
What a powerful message. What a powerful reminder for us as a church, a community of faith…an Easter people…that we have a choice to make each and every day. Every day we choose who we will worship, we choose who we will follow.
Who or what will we choose to bow down to this week? Someone or something of this world? Let us choose to bow to God; the One who is Worthy, the Creator of it all, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the one true King.
Joshua 24:15
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
Prayer: God, help us to listen when You speak; even when you speak through a child. Help us to be Easter people with a child-like faith. Amen.
Grace and peace,
Aaron
