On Mission

On Mission

This Wednesday, we are excited to welcome back Mark Wakefield to PSBC. It has been a couple years since we’ve been able to host him so I’m excited to hear the updates from his Zona Juvenil Ministries in Guatemala. If you are new to Poplar Springs, Mark is one of the missionaries that our church prayerfully and financially supports. We have partnered with Mark for many years and have sent mission teams to Guatemala to help with his ministry.

Zona Juvenil is devoted to helping young men in Guatemala who are abandoned and forgotten. They are dedicated to seeing them succeed and become the young men God has called them to be. Through the Youth Ranch, Mark and his team minister to boys of all ages. He is following God’s call on his life to be a missionary in that place.

This past Sunday, we saw Jesus calling Levi to “follow me.” Levi was lost and not even looking for Jesus, yet Jesus pursued him. It is safe to say that Jesus was the first missionary. It is easy for us to think that being a missionary means you have to move somewhere around the world and do ministry, like Mark in Guatemala. The reality is that God is calling you to be a missionary right where you are. Sometimes the hardest place to minister and share Jesus is across the street or on the other side of the office. As we hear from Mark this week, let’s remember to listen to the Holy Spirit as God calls us to be on mission in our own way, in the place God has called us to be, right here in Cleveland County.

Hope to see you Wednesday night!

Grace and peace,
